The Project has begun.
RICONTRANS is the acronym of Russian Icons Transfer.
It is an ERC (European Research Council) funded research project (ERC Consolidator Grant 2018 — Action number 818791) with full title: «Visual Culture, Piety and Propaganda: Transfer and Reception of Russian Religious Art in the Balkans and the Eastern Mediterranean (16th – early 20th century) »
It is a five-year research project (May 2019 through April 2024)
Principal Investigator: Yuliana Boycheva, Art Historian
Host Institution: Institute for Mediterranean Studies (IMS), part of Foundation for Research and Technology Hellas (FORTH), situated in Rethymnon, Crete, Greece
Second Beneficiary: Museum Benaki, Athens, Greece
Third Parties: univeristies, research insitutions, and museums all around Europe constitute a body of over 42 specialized scholars, MA, PhD, Postdoctoral fellows, and research assistants who will contribute to the project’s goals.
Exhibitions, publications, web presence, open scientific symposia, workshops and seminars will ensure the dissemination of knowledge to both a specialized and a non-specialized audience, and will invite and train a new generation of scholars.
